MAJ TRUST Report 2005 - 2006

The MAJ Trust continues to execute it’s role as the charitable arm of the Medical Association of Jamaica and to fulfill its mandate to express the philanthropy of the Medical Association seeking out in our community, those organizations which are in critical need of assistance and can be helped by the organization.

Donations
Charitable activity for this year was the donation of $30, 000.00 towards the work of “ Rescue”, an organization which engages in youth counseling and conflict resolution.
The presentation was made at the annual MAJ Banquet in June 2006.
Plans for the Future
The fundraising activities proposed by the MAJ Trust for the coming year include;
1. Plan for a Caribbean Food Festival Date to be confirmed
2. Attempts to harness the artistic talents of the members of the MAJ in the production of photographic art for sale, in the form of calendars, postcards, etc.- ongoing project.
Charitable Focus For The Coming Year
The main thrust of the MAJ project for 2006-2007 will be the refurbishing of the Princess Margaret Hospital in St. Thomas. This matter has been discussed with the Senior Medical Officer, Dr. Cecil Batchelor and the project will be undertaken in conjunction with the friends of the Princess Margaret Hospital.
